
Volunteer Roles
To volunteer for the Walk please register here.
Mid- Route Check Point
Check point volunteers will be stationed at rest stations along the Walk route. They will be responsible for monitoring participant health, handing out water and snacks to participants and keeping the area clean and free from obstructions. Check point volunteers must be able to stand for long periods of time.
Entertainment
Entertainment volunteers will be responsible for helping with the activities that have been planned to enhance the Walk experience for participants. Positions may include face painting, sampling, crowd control, etc.
Floater
Floaters might be asked to do any one of the volunteer positions listed here. Every area of the Walk will be busy – Floaters will be asked to lend an extra hand in these areas at that time.
Lunch/Food Station
Volunteers at the lunch station will be responsible for setting up the station, distributing food, crowd control, and keeping the area clean and free from obstructions. Lunch station volunteers must be able to stand for long periods of time.
Parking Attendant
Parking attendants will be stationed in the parking areas to assist participants with parking. They will direct them to the closest free space, send them to an alternate lot if the lot they are stationed in is full and direct them to the Walk Site once they have parked. Parking attendants must be 18 years of age or older.
Registration
Registration volunteers will be responsible for collecting donation forms from participants, verifying donations, ensuring Walk waivers are signed, issuing incentive prizes and attending a training session in advance of Walk Day. Registration volunteers will be handling money and must be 18 years of age or older.
Route Marshall
Route marshals will be stationed at key points along the Walk route. They will be responsible for traffic control and directing and encouraging participants.
Set Up
Set up volunteers will assist with getting the Walk Site ready for participants. This may involve an early start time, moving tables/chairs, hanging signs, setting up tents, etc.
Team Photo Booth
Volunteers at the team photo booth will be responsible for taking team photos and recording team information for photo delivery.
Tear Down/Clean Up
Tear down volunteers will assist with event clean up. This may involve moving tables/chairs, packing supplies, taking down signs, picking up garbage, etc.
Cheerleaders
Cheer at start, finish and throughout the Walk route.
